Terms of Service
Last updated September 7, 2026
These terms cover hauling, transport and pressure washing work carried out by Seralex Transport & Detail, an owner operated business based in Athol, Massachusetts. Booking a job means agreeing to them.
Read section 05 in particular. It sets out what this truck can and cannot safely tow, and section 07 covers the real risks of pressure washing older surfaces.
01Quotes and prices
Prices shown on this site are starting points based on distance band and job type. A quote given for your specific job is a flat price, and it holds for 14 days.
A quote is based on what you describe. If the item turns out to be materially different on arrival, heavier, larger, further, or harder to access than described, the price is re-quoted before any work starts. You are free to decline at that point and nothing is owed beyond any agreed callout.
02Booking, deposits and cancellation
Jobs over $300 take a deposit of half up front. The balance is due on completion.
Cancel more than 24 hours ahead and any deposit is refunded in full. Inside 24 hours, the deposit covers the reserved slot and the fuel already committed. If the job is cancelled from this end for any reason other than weather or safety, the deposit is refunded in full.
03What you need to tell me
Before a job is booked you are responsible for giving accurate information about:
- The weight of the item, including its trailer if it has one
- Its length, width and height
- Where it is and where it is going, including access at both ends
- Any damage, corrosion or mechanical fault that affects moving it safely
You confirm that you own the item or have the owner's permission to have it moved, and that it is legally registered where registration is required.
04Getting it ready
Before pickup, please:
- Remove loose items, valuables and anything not secured
- Make sure trailer tyres, lights and couplings are serviceable
- Provide safe, legal access for a lifted pickup and trailer
Loose items left aboard are moved at your risk. For washing work, water within 100 feet of the job is needed unless something else has been agreed.
05Weight and capability limits
This is a single lifted half ton pickup. It is rated to tow roughly 5,000 lb and carry about 1,500 lb in the bed. Boats up to about 22 feet are comfortable.
Work outside those limits will be declined rather than attempted. That includes car and light truck hauling on a car trailer, which puts the combination at or past what this truck is rated for.
If you are unsure what your item weighs, say so and it can be worked out together. An honest no is cheaper for both of us than a failed pickup.
06Condition, damage and claims
Items are looked over at pickup and photographed where it makes sense. Existing damage, corrosion, soft spots and worn fittings are noted before anything moves.
If something is damaged while in my care, tell me at handover or within 48 hours so it can be looked at while the facts are fresh. Damage reported later is much harder to attribute fairly to the job.
No responsibility is taken for failures that were going to happen anyway: rotten transoms, seized bearings, perished tyres, corroded frames, failed seals and similar pre-existing conditions.
07Pressure washing, and what it can do
Pressure washing is not risk free on older or neglected surfaces. Before booking, understand that:
- Heavily oxidised or chalky gelcoat can look duller after cleaning, because the dirt was masking the oxidation underneath
- Aged decals, pinstriping and vinyl lettering can lift or peel
- Soft or rotten timber, failed seals and perished rubber can be opened up
- Water can get past window seals, hatches and covers that no longer seal properly
Pressure and technique are matched to the surface, and anything that looks marginal is raised with you first. But where a surface is already failing, no responsibility is taken for it giving way during cleaning.
08Insurance
Current insurance details are provided in writing on request before work begins. Please ask if it matters to you, and it will be confirmed plainly either way.
You are strongly encouraged to check that your own policy covers your boat, trailer, vehicle or equipment while it is being transported by a third party. Many owners already have this cover and do not realise it.
09Limits of responsibility
Except where the law does not allow it to be limited, total responsibility for any single job is capped at the amount paid for that job.
No responsibility is taken for indirect losses: missed launches, lost bookings, lost income, missed events, or the cost of arranging alternatives.
Nothing here limits responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10Weather and scheduling
Jobs may be moved for weather, road conditions, or a safety judgement made on site. You will be told as early as possible and the job rescheduled at no extra cost. Towing and washing in Massachusetts winters is weather dependent by nature.
11Payment
Payment is due on completion unless something else has been agreed in writing. Prices are in US dollars. The $125 minimum applies to every job.
12Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Any dispute is handled in the courts of Massachusetts. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still stands.
